14. A warning to the people/The good and the evil/This is war.

For those of you who don't know, there's a vampire on the Barge named Jerry. He hasn't been here long and he's not a very nice guy. Mountain ash can trap him someplace, or keep him out of a place. It acts like a supernatural barrier. I've asked the Admiral for more. I have some already, but not enough for everyone.

[His jaw tightens a little. His face is just a slight shade paler than usual, but if you haven't really paid attention to that sort of thing -- you're not likely to notice.]

Someone with a shitload of super powers should probably go let him out of the laundry room. But be careful. He's probably really pissed off about now.

[He looks like he wants to say something else, but he doesn't. He just disconnects the feed.]

Obviously you guys can't handle mountain ash. So you're going to need to be extra careful with this douchewad. We don't know what kind of damage a vampire could do to one of you.

Pretty much, yeah.

[He makes a face both at the question and at the worry.]

No, not yet. I'm fine.

Dude, you got bit by a vampire.

[And they don't know how that vampire works yet. A bite was enough to turn him, what if this happens to Stiles all over again? Better to catch it now, when they can - maybe do something about it.]

I know.

[And he's trying very hard not to freak out about that right now. Very hard. He does not want to be a vampire. He won't be a vampire.]

Lydia's gonna drag me. [For a moment his breath hitches. He's already talked to Dean about this. He needs to be seen quickly at the infirmary and get back to his room behind a line of mountain ash just in case.]

I'll come with you.

[He doesn't need to hear the hitch to know that a freak out is near by. Stiles isn't going to be a vampire. He isn't.]

I can stay with you.

[Because he'll risk being there if Stiles turns just to make sure his friend has company while he waits it out.]

Scott, what if it's not safe? What if it turns out vampire trumps werewolf?

[What if I hurt you again?]

I don't think a new vampire will trump a true alpha.

[The little smile on his face isn't about the joke, though. It's because Stiles is always gonna be worth the risk to him.]

[Well, when he puts it that way...

Still. He knows how it's going to end if he turns. How it has to end. He won't be a monster again.]

Mason and Lydia were both okay. But...

[But Mason's a reaper and Lydia is a banshee.]

[But Stiles doesn't have supernatural immunity to fall back on. Scott understands the fear, but his voice has all the certainty in the world when he speaks again.]

You'll be okay, Stiles.

[He blows out a breath and nods, forcing himself to try and believe that.]

Yeah. Yeah, I know.

I'll find you in the infirmary.

[And he'll stay with him, today, tonight, maybe the next day or two. It's not like it would be out of the ordinary, really.]

[It wouldn't be out of the ordinary. It's kind of what they've always done when they hit crisis mode. Whether it's his dad leaving or his mom dying or supernatural crises -- they've always stuck together.]
