[Well here we go. He is on a ship and he thinks for the briefest of moments about making a joke about calling it the Ship of Dreams because Lydia has made him watch Titanic a few too many times. But it sounds lame even to him, and he's still not feeling that great about...anything, really.

After a long moment of hesitation, he turns the camera on and gives a small smile that looks a bit more like a grimace than anything. His tone is light and friendly, even if his expression is tired, his skin a bit too pale, and there are bags under his eyes that indicate it's been awhile since he's had any decent sleep. He's still cold, still achy and nauseous, but he knows he's going to get better from that eventually. In theory.]

So I have to admit that the irony in this is kind of hilarious. I mean, my dad's a sheriff and I'm not even out of high school and here I am on a ship about to be a warden.

[He pauses. Warden definitely beats being possessed, so he's rolling with it. It's what he does.]

Can't say this is exactly how I figured things would turn out, buuuut. [He shrugs, looking down for a moment.] It sort of does beat the alternative, so I guess I'm happy to be here.

[And he doesn't mind saying it. The whole thing was an accident. He never intended to be a long term space pioneer. It just...happened.]

But, you're sort of in the same boat now. I'm not really sure if anyone knows where we are out here either. Good news for Wardens is: theoretically, we can go home any time, and get there reliably.

Because we chose to come here.

[He nods slightly, looking down at his hands. He's pretty sure he's not going to be going home for a long time.]

So you're not going back because you don't know what you're going back to? Or...where, I guess?

I have a ship that I live on with my crew. So, I do have somewhere to get back to. It's not Earth, but it is home now.

I'm not going back yet because I have an inmate to help. And, I won't deny that I have a very important deal to make. I won't have to decide what to do after that for a while.

Yeah. No, that makes sense.

[The importance of his own deal weighs on him, but it's not something he's going to focus on right now. If he thinks about it too much, he's going to be useless in this place.]

So any advice for a new warden?

Advice? Watch your back. There are a lot of dangerous people running around and it's really easy to get a knife in it when you aren't look'n.

[He knows that from experience now.]

And make some friends. It's easier to handle if you got someone to talk to.

[Stiles nods slightly at the advice. He's not surprised by it. Prison barge. His dad's a sheriff. And he's from Beacon Hills.]

Yeah, I'm sure you're right about that. [His voice gets a little more quiet at the mention of friends.]

Hey? You okay?

Listen, if you need someone to talk to I'm always around to lend an ear.

Yeah. Yeah, I'm all right.

You're taking all this pretty well, you know? Makes me think you've been around the block before.

A few times. [His tone is a bit wry now. More than a few, really. The last couple of years have basically been pure chaos in Beacon Hills.]

You said your dad's a Sheriff. Guess it shouldn't be surprising.

You weren't aiming to be on the force too when you graduated, were you?

[And his best friend is a werewolf. And his other friend is a banshee. Yeah his life is weiiird.]

Well, I've still got about a year and a half before graduation. I mean, I guess I've kinda thought about it. But no real plans so far.

[That's okay, one of his friends is blue and another one has tentacles on his head. Weird life seems to be the norm on this boat.]

Ah. It's been a while for me. Guess I forget what it was like. Doesn't help that I decided early that I was going to follow my father's footsteps.

[Definitely the norm. He considers the man's words for a long moment. His dad's the sheriff and Stiles is good at figuring stuff out but he's not always the most law abiding person either. Usually it's for the greater good though?]

No, that's cool though. I mean, knowing what you wanna do long before you actually do it. Sometimes I think maybe I could be a private investigator.

'Private eye' huh? That sounds interesting. Hanging around here might give you some good experience in that case. Not the safest of professions I'd bet. Then again, neither is police work, but at least you get to call for backup on the force.

[He's possibly seen too many old movies about this stuff to actually know what a real private detective would do in a days work.]

Yeah. I like figuring stuff out. [He gives a small shrug and a smile.] I guess maybe I get it from my dad. [And on the plus side, his backup is usually his best friend the werewolf?]

Hey. If that's what you like, then I say go for it.

[The werewolf backup is definitely a plus.]
