[Well here we go. He is on a ship and he thinks for the briefest of moments about making a joke about calling it the Ship of Dreams because Lydia has made him watch Titanic a few too many times. But it sounds lame even to him, and he's still not feeling that great about...anything, really.

After a long moment of hesitation, he turns the camera on and gives a small smile that looks a bit more like a grimace than anything. His tone is light and friendly, even if his expression is tired, his skin a bit too pale, and there are bags under his eyes that indicate it's been awhile since he's had any decent sleep. He's still cold, still achy and nauseous, but he knows he's going to get better from that eventually. In theory.]

So I have to admit that the irony in this is kind of hilarious. I mean, my dad's a sheriff and I'm not even out of high school and here I am on a ship about to be a warden.

[He pauses. Warden definitely beats being possessed, so he's rolling with it. It's what he does.]

Can't say this is exactly how I figured things would turn out, buuuut. [He shrugs, looking down for a moment.] It sort of does beat the alternative, so I guess I'm happy to be here.

So. Did anyone give you the spiel yet, or are people mostly being alarmed at yet another under-18 on the boat?

I tell people that but they don't believe me.

I've gotten bits and pieces of things. No one's seemed overly alarmed at my age so far. I'm guessing that's normally a thing?

I dunno, sometimes it is. I've been trying to wear them down by being exceptionally competent, but since I turned 18 and became a Real Adult it just doesn't pack the same punch. Scott hasn't picked up the slack the way I hoped he would.

Is Scott the youngest one here, then?

One of the youngest. I dunno exactly, I haven't taken a census. And technically I'm not sure we age here, either, I might still be seventeen. There's a fucking philosophical quandary for you, can you age on a timeless space prison boat?

Huh. Can't say it's a question I've ever pondered before literally right now. I have a friend back home who'd probably know the answer, though.

...or possibly Wynter might know.

It's cool, I don't actually care that much. The answer would probably just give me a headache.

Are you okay? Not to get all weird, we just sort of met, but you know. If you have a nervous breakdown Scott'll have a nervous breakdown and then probably Daneca will have a nervous breakdown and it'll be a mess.

[Stiles raises his eyebrows at the name Daneca. It's a name he hasn't heard before.]

Yeah, I'm all right. [He isn't, really, but he isn't going to have some kind of breakdown in front of anyone, either.]

No nervous breakdowns on the horizon. Just a little weirded out by the time thing. Who's Daneca?

She's my friend. Scott's, too, I guess. She worries about him.

[She worries less about Cassel, but that's because it'd pretty much be a full-time job, truth be told.]

Yeah. I get that.

[And he really, really does. The last couple of years have been one really long road of constant worry about his best friend. Not just his best friend, but he's definitely at the top of Stiles' list of people he worries about.]

He's been okay here though, right? He told me he's been okay.

It's just - a lot of shit's gone down, a lot of shit always goes down here, and he's been in the middle of a lot of it. I think he's seen things that . . . I don't know. He doesn't seem as confident as he was when he got here. In himself, I mean.

Which is total crap, because he's basically a stupid comic book hero in werewolf form, but try telling him that.

[Stiles rubs a hand over his face tiredly, not the least bit surprised about any of what Cassel's telling him. At all. When shit goes down, Scott's always in the middle of it. Because he is a hero, even if he'd never call himself that.]

Yeah, I kinda figured. [He sighs softly. Please, Cassel, do be a tattletale. He knows that Scott, especially at this point, doesn't have much confidence in himself.]

And you're preaching to the choir on that one.

We're not gonna let him fall. [Cassel is stubborn when he says this, almost vicious in his determination. Scott has been there for him; Scott is maybe his first real friend, other than Chris, who isn't wrapped up in his whole life. He means a lot, not just to Cassel, but to a bunch of other people here, too.]

But he's been slumped a little.

I'm glad you get it. He's been talking about you just, like, all the time.

No, we're not. Definitely not. [Scott was Stiles' first real friend too. Only friend up until a few months ago, really. There's one other back home still.]

I definitely get it. He's saved my ass a lot. Like...a lot.

He has?

Dude, absolutely. [He puts on what he probably thinks is a Valley Girl accent.] "I miss Stiles so much, I can't even handle it. Stiles would know how to deal with this situation. Stiles would fix this. Stiles can lift three encyclopedias under each arm."

[Stiles snorts at the imitation and shakes his head in obvious amusement.]

Perfect impression. I can definitely hear him.

I'm a gifted impressionist. One day you'll be walking down the halls and see somebody you think is Scott, and it'll be me. You'll be so dazzled.
