[Well here we go. He is on a ship and he thinks for the briefest of moments about making a joke about calling it the Ship of Dreams because Lydia has made him watch Titanic a few too many times. But it sounds lame even to him, and he's still not feeling that great about...anything, really.

After a long moment of hesitation, he turns the camera on and gives a small smile that looks a bit more like a grimace than anything. His tone is light and friendly, even if his expression is tired, his skin a bit too pale, and there are bags under his eyes that indicate it's been awhile since he's had any decent sleep. He's still cold, still achy and nauseous, but he knows he's going to get better from that eventually. In theory.]

So I have to admit that the irony in this is kind of hilarious. I mean, my dad's a sheriff and I'm not even out of high school and here I am on a ship about to be a warden.

[He pauses. Warden definitely beats being possessed, so he's rolling with it. It's what he does.]

Can't say this is exactly how I figured things would turn out, buuuut. [He shrugs, looking down for a moment.] It sort of does beat the alternative, so I guess I'm happy to be here.

Quite interesting. The down time can be... lacking, but the events and so on are quite diverting. And the people can be quite interesting too.

[He arches an eyebrow at the question, looking a little uneasy for the briefest of moments. Scott might be reading this. Admitting he was probably about to die is one of those things he really doesn't want his best friend to know. So he shrugs a little.]

Junior year of high school. Followed by senior of high school. Basically a lot of homework and tests and other very taxing kinds of things.

[Francis eyes broadcast his disbelief clearly. He's not offended by the lie, but he is a politician and even without Scorpius heat sensing abilities, he knows when he's been lied to by experts. Teenage boys are not experts at much of anything.]

It's all practically useless anyway. Apart from languages. Those are always a bit hit.

[He's more than familiar with looks of disbelief. Mostly from his dad. He's not bothered by the fact that a stranger knows he's lied, really.]

Yeah, what does one ever actually need algebraic equations for anyway?

[That, he has an answer for.] Engineering, usually. And mathematical modelling for predicting things and so on. Naturally, they don't tell students this… [because reasons, Stiles. Reasons.

He shakes his head.] Can't risk actually motivating students by giving them clarity now can we.

[His lips twitch upwards just a little. Math definitely isn't his strong suit or favorite subject, but he still manages to pull an A.]

Well of course not. Why would they want to do that? I mean it's not like engineers make more money than a lot of other professions or anything. That definitely wouldn't motivate anyone.

In that way, at least, it certainly does prepare you for a world of work.

Not everyone can be engineers.

The rest of us are knowledgeable in the ways of drudgery and backstabbing.

Also in figuring things out and being experts in pop culture past and present.
